C-EB golfers open season in Mobridge

The Cheyenne Eagle Butte Boy’s Golf team started the 2012 season Monday as they crossed the river and competed at the Mobridge-Pollock Invitational held at the 9-hole Oahe Hills Country Club. Nolan Keckler shot a 46 in the first round and a 42 in the second to finish seventh at 88, ten strokes off the lead. Scott Laundreaux tied with Keckler for seventh after shooting a 43 in the front nine and a 45 in the back nine. Freshman Braden Ward finished with a 143 in his first year golfing to round out the Braves. “It was a great first meet, “ said Braves Coach Curt Corey. “We had some fun and learned what works and what doesn’t and know what we have to work on.” Freshman Carl Petersen competed for the Braves in the Junior Varsity match.David Jensen of Mobridge-Pollock won the invitational after finishing with a 78. The Braves will head back to Mobridge next Tuesday to compete at the Big-Dakota Conference meet starting at 9 a.m. MST.
