Braves finish seventh at Big Dakota

The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte varsity volleyball team competed in the Big Dakota Conference Volleyball tournament on Saturday in Ft. Pierre and finished with a 1 and 2 record.
The Braves were matched up against the Miller Rustlers and lost two games by scores of 15-25 and 18-25. In the second round the Braves won the first match 25-17 but dropped the next two by scores of 20-25 and 13-25 to the Todd County Falcons. In the game for seventh place the Braves came out strong and won the first game 25-15, in the second game the Stanley County Lady Buffalos kept it close and at one point were up 23-18, but the Braves made a strong come back for a 28-26 victory.
Braves travel to Takini on Thursday and Pine Ridge on Saturday
The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Varsity Volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win over the Dupree Tigers on Tuesday Sept. 11 by scores of 25-14, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-16 and moved their season record to 2 wins and 4 losses.
The Braves served 66 of 78 with 29 aces to keep the Tigers on their heels. Kali Hale was 20 of 24 and served 12 aces. In attacks the Braves connected on 48 of 62 with 31 kills. Leader in attacks was Nelly Dupris who was 8 of 9 with 8 kills. In setting, the Braves completed 35 of 37 sets with 18 assists. Leading setter was Kimmie LeCompte with 12 of 12 and 9 assists. In blocks Kaleb Shepherd had 3 solo and 2 assisted blocks, while Marquel Shepherd blocked 3. The Braves picked up 43 digs with Samantha Bowker leading the way with 9.
