Newly elected CRST Council members sworn in
by Tasiyagnunpa Livermont
On Tuesday, December 4, 2012, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe welcomed new council members and honored those whose time on the council is now done.
A local drum group gave an honor song and many current council members spoke about a collective loss, as the council saw the exit of several long time council members.
As the work of the departing members was remembered in solemn and humorous stories and anecdotes, the council welcomed the new council members. Many current and outgoing members shared that they knew the road of leadership was difficult, but that working for the people was worth the time spent doing research, time spent away from family and other burdens of leadership.
