The C-EB Braves got their season started Saturday night, as the Braves took on a sharpshooting Todd County Falcon squad. The Falcons jumped out early and took a five-point lead at the end of the first quarter 21-15. The Braves scored 20 points to Todd County’s 22 in the second quarter to go into halftime seven points down 43-36. The Braves came out in the 3rd quarter on a 10-5 run on the Falcons as Cray Allen nailed a three pointer to bring the Braves back within two points of Todd County. Todd County fought back hitting four consecutive three pointers before going on an 11-0 run on the Braves. Zach Cox nailed a three pointer at the buzzer to extend the Falcon lead to 75-58. The Falcons would score 27 points to the Braves 17 in the final quarter to defeat the Braves 102-75.
“We played even with them up through the third quarter,” said Head Coach Rob Mendoza. “The score was a bit deceiving; they left their seniors in for awhile against our bench. We shot 55% and put 75 points on the board; we played a good game they just had the better one. It was a good learning experience, and a lot of our kids just don’t have that experience, and we need to get it.”
CEB finished with three players in double digits. Juniors Xavier Norris and Cray Allen finished with 19 points each and Wyatt Knight finished with 14. Freshman Grant Kohlus finished with eight points. The Braves shot 64% from the freethrow line and finished with 22 fouls.
Todd County had a hot hand, shooting for 71% and hitting 11 of 16 threes. Zach Cox finished with 36 points and Kellan Herman finished with 27 including six threes.

The Braves play Tiospa Zina in the first round of the LNI tournament on Wednesday, gametime at 11:30 a.m. in the Ice Arena.
