Dupree Tigers 5-1 after holiday break

The Dupree Tigers picked up two wins and lost a close battle with the #2 Class B team in North Dakota during the holiday break pushing them to 5-1 on the season.

North Star

The Tigers faced the #2 North Star North Dakota team at the NSU Classic in Aberdeen. The Tigers started slow against the Bearcats as they trailed 22-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers cut the deficit to eight points at halftime allowing the North Stars only five points in the second quarter. The Tigers battled back in the second half and cut the North Star lead to three points with nine seconds left in the contest. North Star would score again and held on for the win 58-53.

The Tigers finished with four players in double digits as Tate Widow led Dupree with 14 points, sinking four three pointers. Nate Widow finished with 13 points and Jeffrie Shaving put in 12. Kash Deal finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Jacob Hagler finished with 26 points for the Bearcats.

Herried/Selby

Following the loss to the North Star Bearcats, the Dupree Tigers the next day squared off with the Herried/Selby Wolverines at the Rotary Classic in Mobridge. The Tigers took control of the game early jumping out to a 27-9 first quarter lead. It was all Tigers after that as they extended the lead to 23 at the half. The Wolverines would cut the lead to 16 toward the end of the 3rd quarter, but Kash Deal nailed a three at the buzzer to push the Tiger lead back up to 19. The Tigers onslaught continued in the final period as they defeated the Wolverines 75-52.

The Tigers finished the night with three players in double digits. Kash Deal and Nate Widow led the charge netting 20 points each, and Tate Widow finished with 13. Nick Larson finished with 21 points and Dakota Thorstenson netted 12 for Herried/Selby.

McIntosh

The Dupree Tigers started the New Year with a big win over the McIntosh Tigers, 99-36. Dupree jumped out to a 24-12 first quarter lead, but only allowed McIntosh four points in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 32 point lead, 48-16. Dupree scored 28 points in the 3rd quarter to further the lead to 48. The Tigers missed the century mark by one point as they defeated the Tigers from the north 99-36.

Nate Widow put up 29 points to lead the charge as four Tigers finished with double digits. Kash Deal and Jeffrie Shaving finished with 11 points each. Trenton Pretty Weasel finished with 10 points. Kyle Mollmer led McIntosh with 23 points.
