C-EB fans were treated to some highflying action last Thursday night as the Braves hosted the McLaughlin Midgets. In the first period Xavier Norris knocked the ball away from Clifford One Feather, leaving Norris open for a one handed dunk that spurred the crowd, pushing the Braves to a 12-6 lead. The Braves extended their lead to eight at the end of the first quarter 16-8. The Braves jumped out to a 24-15 lead in the first four minutes of the second half but the Midgets came alive in the last four minutes on a 10-2 run to come within one point at halftime, 26-25.

The Braves came out of the locker room and scored 27 points in the third quarter to McLaughlin’s 13 to push their one point lead to a 15 point lead to end the third quarter. The Braves continue to outscore the Midgets in the final quarter to walk away victorious 71-44.

Xavier Norris led the charge with 21 points and three rebounds. Cray Allen finished the game with 13 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. Payton Tiokasin led the Midgets with 18 points and Jayson Running Hawk added 11.

The win moves C-EB to 6-9 on the season with four games left to play. The Braves have a hard schedule ahead as they will play a tough St. Francis Warrior squad on Thursday night for a make up game, and the Pine Ridge Thorpes come to town on Saturday afternoon. On Monday night, the Braves will travel to Mobridge to take on the Tigers hoping to put an end to the Tiger’s 14-game win streak.
