Kenneth Albert Nordby
Kenneth Albert Nordby, 93, passed away on February 17, 2013 in Bowman at the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center in Bowman.
Funeral services for Kenneth were on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Scranton. Pastor Mary Peterson officiated and burial followed in the Cedar Cemetery. Kenneth was born on August 22, 1919, the son of An¬drew Peterson Nordby and Carrie Starren Nordby. He grew up on the family farm with five brothers and two sisters. He went to school at Washington Elementary and high school in Scranton. With the rumblings of war, Kenneth took a job with his older brother Harry at a defense plant in Baltimore, MD, where he would help in mak¬ing airplanes. He later quit his job in Baltimore and enlisted in the army in the infantry, where he was stationed in Germany and when the war ended he stayed to work as a military police for a year or so. After the war, Kenneth and Harry went looking for some farm land they could buy. They found two adjoining farms in Dupree, SD. Harry went on to get married so Kenneth moved out of the house and built his own on the property where he lived for many years. Kenneth never married and eventually moved to an apartment in Bowman. When he was no longer able to keep up with the apartment, Kenneth moved in the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center. He is survived by his sister, Eva Parks and brother Arne (Verna) Nordby and seven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Arthur, Norris, Clifford and Harry and sister, Helen.
