Tigers end season 19-1, move on to Districts

The Dupree Tigers finished out their regular season 19-1 after defeating the Takini Skyhawks 57-38 for the final game of the season. The Tigers finish the season ranked number five in the state and their only loss came from the number two Class B team in North Dakota, the North Star Bearcats.

The Tigers get set for District action as they head into the tournament the number one seed and will face the McIntosh Tigers in the semifinal match on Thursday night in Mobridge. The game will start at 6pm. MST with the doors opening at 5pm. MST. The winner will face the victor of the Timber Lake and Wakpala semifinal match on Friday night for the championship.


The Tigers wasted no time setting up their offense as they exploded to a 38-10 first quarter lead on the Skyhawks. The Tigers didn’t slow down in the second quarter as they outscored Takini 26-10 to jump out to a 44 point lead at halftime.

The Skyhawks outscored the Tigers in the third quarter 15-13 to take a two-point deduction from their deficit. The Tigers continued into the fourth quarter as Coach Jim Hood cleared the bench as the Tigers defeated the Skyhawks 98-56.

Five Tiger players finished in double digits as Nate Widow led the charge with 35 points and 11 rebounds. Kash Deal fin¬ished with 17 points and Creigh¬ton LeBeau put up 11 points. Trenton Pretty Weasel and Seth Longbrake both finished with 10 points each.

Tiger Condon led the Skyhawks with 16 points. Joey Dupris put up 13 and Chad LePointe finished with 11.

The Tigers shot for 62% from the field hitting 42 of 68 shots and 59% from the free throw line sinking 10 of 17.

Takini shot for 37% from the field and 67% from the charity stripe.

Dupree JV won the game 63-15.
