Lorraine Tsanina Sprague, 93, Newell, died on June 6, 2013, at her home in Newell.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Newell Christian Fellowship with Pastor Sean Carney officiating.
Visitation was from noon to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Lorraine was born to John W. and Laura (Zimmerman) Eddy on August 22, 1919, in Lantry, SD. In her younger years, her mother homeschooled her until she was able to attend country school in Ziebach County. She then attended high school in Spearfish up to the 10th grade. Lorraine married Hersil L. Sprague on October 22, 1936, and they lived mostly in the Dupree area. In 1950, they moved to Mud Butte, and in 1986, they moved to Newell where they stayed and made their home. Lorraine and Hersil had been married for almost 60 years at the time of his death in 1996.

Lorraine enjoyed playing cards, quilting, and sewing. She was active in the Newell Vale Nisland senior center and was a member of the Newell Christian Fellowship church and the Rebekahs.

Lorraine is survived by her sons, Gary Sprague, Newell, Dale (Ruth Ann) Sprague, Mud Butte, and Lyle (Kim) Sprague, Nisland; daughters, Pearl (Calvin) Geis, Belle Fourche, and Nancy (Casey) Barnum, Lander, WY; brothers, James Eddy, Spearfish, and Larry Eddy, Rapid City; sisters, Kay Simons, Sturgis, and Joan Zieman, Spearfish; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hersil; two daughters, Shirley Anderson and Carol Alvarez; one son, Louis Sprague; one granddaughter, Lisa Geis; her parents, one sister, and two brothers.
