Eagle Butte man facing charges after a standoff in Pierre, officer wounded

What started as a routine traffic stop near Pierre on Tuesday, October 30, ended up in one dead and one who got away, only to be arrested days later after a standoff in a Pierre neighborhood, according to Supervisory Deputy Tom Genz of the U.S. Marshal’s office.

When Pierre Police needed backup, U.S. Marshals responded, said Genz, which is not atypical when one agency puts out a call for assistance.
