Vetal Eagle Hunter


Vetal Eagle Hunter, age 72, of Eagle Butte, S.D., and surrounded by his loving family, entered the Spirit World on Monday, March 31, 2014, at the Cheyenne River Health Center, Eagle Butte, S.D.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Ann Eagle Hunter of Eagle Butte; one daughter: Michelle Chasing Hawk-Patterson of Greenwood, S.D. Three sons: Wiyaka Chasing Hawk of Eagle Butte, S.D, Kola Eagle Hunter and Ake Eagle Hunter of Eagle Butte. One brother, Robert Chasing Hawk, Sr., of Eagle Butte. Two sisters: Bertha Chasing Hawk of Eagle Butte and Alexina Evans of Legionarre, IN.  7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

A one night wake begins at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the Old Agency Building at Eagle Butte. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 4, at the Old Agency Building, with Wiyaka Chasing Hawk Officiating. Burial will follow at the Alex Chasing Hawk Homesite Cemetery, Red Scaffold, SD.

Funeral arrangements have been placed in the care of Rooks and Red Dog Funeral Home of Eagle Butte.
