Georgia Ann Garreaux


Georgia Ann Garreaux, 75, of Great Falls, passed away April 28, 2014, at a local care facility. Visitation was available for family and friends on Wednesday, April 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Rose Room Chapel at Croxford Funeral Home. Services held privately at a later date.

Georgia was born October 16, 1938, in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. She grew up in Eagle Butte and was raised on her dad’s ranch. She attended boarding school in Oklahoma and later went on to receive her Registered Nursing degree in New Mexico. She used this degree in multiple states, including Idaho, South Dakota, Montana and lastly Oregon. She went on to retire in Butte in 1978.  Georgia loved to bowl, throw horse shoes, crochet and quilt. She enjoyed camping, fishing, picnics and traveling with her family. She never missed her favorite “soaps”. She was known for her delicious cooking and generous heart; everyone called her “Mom”.  Survivors are daughters, Jacqueline and Evette Shields; sons, Michael, Derrick and Darren Shields; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Those who have preceded her in death include ex-husband, William Shields; husband, Calvin Garreaux; and father, Jonas Crow Eagle.
