Ziebach County Commissioners discuss county road work

The Ziebach County Commissioners met on Thursday, June 5 in Dupree for their monthly meeting. The meeting date was moved from its usual date, the first Tuesday of each month because of the primary election that took place on June 3.

The commissioners began with reviewing the voting turnout and ballet information from each of the districts within the county. According to the commission, Ziebach County had a 3 percent showing from voters for the primary.

The commissioners expressed concern for the low turnout and hope for a better turnout in the general election in November.

In other business, the commissioners discussed the Highway Department’s progress on “blading” and pulling the shoulders of county roads, the pros and cons of new equipment, and concerns about the shortage of staff.
