Brent Woodward of Dupree roped his way to a State Team Roping Championship with partner Sam Huffman of Belle Fourche this past weekend at the South Dakota High School Rodeo Finals in Belle Fourche.

Woodward and Huffman jumped out with back to back second place finishes in the first two rounds to add 28 points to their tally. The duo finished fifth on Sunday’s short go to clinch the championship over runner-ups Reece Wientjes and Nolan Richie. The team also won the average with a total time of 29.120.
