Steve passed away June 28, 2014, at the Prince of Peace Retirement Community in Sioux Falls. He was a lifelong resident of Eagle Butte with the exception of the past six years when he moved to Sioux Falls. Steve was born in Eagle Butte on February 5, 1925, to Louis and Hedwica Shupick. Steve led a full life with his many activities and farm and ranch life. He loved his bride Jeanne for 66 years. He was especially proud of his ten children and all of his grandchildren. Never will we forget all of the fun on the farm when the family gathered for the traditional barn dances! Oh how we wish we could dance with our father again. Steve was a member of All Saints Parish his entire life with the exception of the past 6 years which has been with the Prince of Peace Retirement Community. He was a proud Parish Board member when the new church was built. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus, Council Number 6537 since 1944. He achieved status of Grand Knight and served in that role for 5 years. He also served 2 years as the State District Deputy and has remained a life long honorary member. He was also a Eagle Butte 20-1 School District Board member for 17 years and was instrumental in getting the new school built. Those ten kids couldn’t get by with anything during those formative years. He also served as Eagle Butte Coop Board member for 15 years, 10 year board member of the Dewey County Extension, both state and local level , 3 years on the FHA board, 15 years with the Green Grass telephone company board and over 30 years on the Dewey County Election Board. Steve never met a sport he didn’t like and was very active in the school serving as the time keeper for all sporting events for over 35 years. It was amazing how he could watch a basketball game and keep an eye on the door in case one of his kids left the game for outside activities. Left to miss Steve is his wife Jeanne and children Sharon (John) Lawson, Stephen Shupick, Jr., Richard (Katherine) Shupick, Thomas (Wanda Brown) Shupick, Cheryl (Jim) Ferguson, Francis (Judy) Shupick, Charles (Wendy) Shupick, Mark (Darla) Shupick, Marie (Scott) Marks, Michael (Shana) Shupick.
