Dupree citizens reject postal plan

During a very heated Wednesday, November 14, 2012, meeting in Dupree at the Dupree USPS office, manager of postal operations Steve Carter from Rapid City, referred people to send complaints to headquarters, but was not able to answer questions from the customers on who exactly to send comments to.
“Can’t you look it up yourselves? Do we have to do everything for you?” Carter asked.
Upon repeated requests, he gave his supervisor’s address in Sioux Falls, SD.
Over twenty people attended the meeting, most concerned about the POST plan and other local downgrades. Dupree customers voiced their displeasure at the shortened office hours in Dupree and the downgrade of the office from being a collection office and admin center.
Post office window hours will now be Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Saturday’s from 8 to 11 a.m.
