Pioneer Days Celebration
Dupree’s 52nd annual Pioneer Days Celebration is set for July 12th through July 15th. Crowd favorites including award winning rodeos, Main Street parade, street sports, ZCHS Silent Auction, a Pow-Wow, Homemade Ice Cream Social and dances will be on the schedule along with some new and fun activities.
On Thursday night, July 12th, a free supper hosted by 1st Financial Bank will be followed by a concert with local favorites as openers and an Elvis impersonator to start a rockin’ celebration.
Friday, July 13th, is filled with Alumi activities, supper and a public dance. Classic car enthusiasts will be able to Cruise Main in their collector vehicles in recognition of National Collector Car Appreciation Day.
The day will start at a faster pace on Saturday, July 14th, with a 5K walk/run, rodeo slack, ZCHS Silent Auction & Doll Showing, Main Street Parade, Street Sports, Dupree Wacipi, SDRA rodeo and an evening dance. New activities sponsored by the Calvary Chapel on Saturday afternoon include a 3 on 3 basketball tournament for all ages, a unicyclist and an archery competition. Entries for the 3 on 3 will be limited so contact Chug or Karen Garreau as soon as possible at 365-5512 for more information or to leave a message if you’d like to enter the 3 on 3 basketball tournament.
Sunday, July 15th will begin at a slower pace with a free breakfast, community church service, a second day of the ZCHS Silent Auction and the 2nd Annual Little Miss Ziebach County contest. Things will roar into action with an afternoon Hog Run for the area motorcyclists that will end with a Polynesian Hog Roast that will be open to the public. Another SDRA rodeo performance and second day of the Dupree Wacipi will bring the celebration to a close.
There will be music under the tent at Calvary Chapel on Main Street throughout the weekend. Their team members will lead many of the new activities and will also do face painting during the rodeo performances. Come one, come all and have a memorable celebration in Dupree.
