Local Cowboys heading to High School National Finals
Jake Frazier, a freshman at Tiospaye Topa finished second at the South Dakota High School Rodeo Finals this past weekend in Belle Fourche, covering two of three bulls. In the first go-round, Frazier scored an 83 for the high point ride of the finals, a 68 in the second, and bucked off in the short-go. Frazier came in to the finals in sixth with 24 season points and earned 26.5 points in the finals to finish 6.5 points behind Ryan Knutson from Toronto, SD. who finished with 57 points and won the bull riding title.
C-EB Freshman Jett Peterson in his first year competing in the Boy’s Cutting competition, shined atop of his stud “Cutter’s Smart Peppy” at the South Dakota High School Finals. Peterson finished third in the state and earned a spot on the South Dakota National High School Rodeo team. Peterson went into the finals sitting in the eleventh position, scored a 141 in the first go, 140 in the second and a 138 in the final short go. For his performances he was also named South Dakota High School Rookie of the Year. The High School National Finals will be held in Rock Springs, WY on July 15-21, 2012. Jett is the son of Kim and Kim Peterson of Parade.
