CRST Rep. Lee published poet, active on committees
Sharon Lee, District 4 Tribal Council Representative, took time out of her busy day to share a little bit about herself.
The West River Eagle would like to do feature stories on all current Tribal Council Representatives. This new endeavor’s purpose is to help readers become more familiar with tribal council representatives.
Lee was born and raised in Eagle Butte and graduated from C-EB. She is currently working towards her bachelor’s degree in business. She takes classes at Oglala Community College, as well as, online courses. Lee is a published poet. Her poems have been published several times over the course of her 20-plus year writing career. Lee continues to work on publishing a book of poems.
A little known fact about Lee is that she collects teapots and turtles. Lee’s collection sounds impressive, and she added with a smile, “I’ll gladly accept any teapot or turtle.”
Lee is very active within the CRST. She currently chairs the Gaming Task Force, Economic Development Board and TERO. She is the vice-chair of the Appropriations Committee and the Tribal Projects Committee. She sits on the following boards: Budget Finance Committee, Claims and Legislation Committee, Education Committee, Fair Board, Housing Committee, Judiciary Committee, Land Committee, and the Transportation Committee. She is the NCA representative for the Great Plains Tribes and the National Indian Gaming Association representative for the Great Plains Tribes.
