Braves finish four and two at LNI.

The Cheyenne Eagle Butte Lady Braves Volleyball team traveled to Rapid City on Thursday Sept. 27 to compete in the Lakota Nation Invitational volleyball tournament.
After day one of pool play the Lady Braves ended up with a 1 and 2 record. They lost their first match to the Tigers of White River by scores of 11-25 and 15-25. Nelly Dupris had four kills, Sam Bowker had four assists. In the second match of the day the Lady Braves shut down the St. Francis Warriors by scores of 25-14 and 25-13. Kimmie LeCompte served four aces followed by Tatum Mendoza with three aces. Kaleb Shepherd completed five kills and Sam Bowker had four digs. In the final match of the day the Tiospa Zina Wamdi picked up a hard fought win over the Lady Braves by scores of 23-25, 25-20 and 15-25.
On Saturday the Lady Braves put together three solid games and picked up wins over Red Cloud 25-20 and 25-13, Little Wound 21-25, 25-16 and 25-14, and Crow Creek 25-13 and 25-20. With the 4-2 record the Lady Braves tied for second in Pool A with Tiospa Zina Wamdi but because of the loss to Tiospa Zina on Friday the Braves were unable to move in the semifinal round.
“I was very proud of their performance on Saturday, we played tough and aggressive on both ends, and we were quick on transition.” Senior Marquel Shepherd was selected to the LNI All Tournament team.
